11 Tequila Cocktails that Will Impress All of Your Tías at Your Next Party

There are so many ways to enjoy tequila that go beyond the perfunctory shot. Tequila is an incredibly versatile spirit that can be taken neat, on the rocks, or used in delicious cocktails. From the fan-favorite margarita to something more classic, the following 11 cocktails are sure to please.

Don Daisy

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Don Fulano Blanco
  • ½ oz Dry curaçao 
  • 0.75 oz Fresh lemon juice
  • 0.25 oz Agave nectar
  • Soda water

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients, except for the soda, in a shaker and shake with ice until chilled. 
  2. Strain into a coupe and top with a splash of soda water.
  3. Garnish optional (try fresh mint or fruit!)

Pavón Old Fashioned

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz Don Fulano Añejo
  • 0.5 oz PX Sherry
  • 1 Dash absinthe
  • 1 Dash chocolate bitters

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass and stir briefly. 
  2. Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube. 
  3. Garnish with an orange twist.

El Pinto

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz Don Fulano Reposado
  • 1 oz Sweet Vermouth
  • 0.75 oz Suze Liqueur

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass and stir briefly. 
  2. Strain into a glass over a large ice cube.
  3. Garnish with fresh mint.

The Paleta-rita 

Ingredients:

  • 2 parts Hornitos Reposado Tequila 
  • 1 part Fresh Lime Juice
  • 1/2 part Agave Syrup
  • 1 Mini La Michoacana Paleta (comes in mango with chamoy, lime, and strawberry, to name a few)

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a serving glass.
  2. Top with a paleta of your choosing. Enjoy!

Cristalita 

Ingredients:

  • 1½ oz. Tequila CAZADORES Añejo Cristalino
  • ½  oz. PATRÓN Citronge
  • ½  oz. agave nectar
  • 2 slices of lime
  • 2 slices of lemon
  • 2 slices of orange
  • 2 cilantro sprigs
  • 1 slice serrano chile

Directions: 

  1. In a cocktail shaker, muddle citrus slices, serrano, and cilantro. 
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients with ice, shake vigorously, double strain, and serve on the rocks. 
  3. Garnish with lime, orange peel, and serrano chile.

El Cielo Martini

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz  Patrón El Cielo 
  • 0.5 oz MARTINI Ambrato Vermouth
  • 0.5 oz Noilly Prat Extra Dry Vermouth
  • 3 dashes of orange bitters
  • Glassware: Martini or nick & nora/cocktail glass 
  • Ice type: Cubed ice (for stirring)
  • Garnish: Orange “bee” twist

Directions:

  1. Add all to a mixing glass and stir with ice. 
  2. Pour neat into a chilled Nick & Nora glass and garnish with an orange twist.

El Cielo Spritz 

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz Patrón El Cielo 
  • 2 oz chilled Pinot Grigio or Provençale Rose Wine
  • 3 oz chilled Ginger Ale
  • Ice type: Cubed ice
  • Garnish: Juicy orange wedge
  • Glassware: White wine glass or stemless wine tumbler

Directions:

  1. In a white wine glass with cubed ice, build all ingredients and stir to combine. 
  2. Garnish with a fresh orange wedge — squeeze and drop into the glass

Tequila Sunrise

Ingredients:

  • 1 750 ml bottle of Dulce Vida Pineapple Jalapeño 
  • 1½ cups Fresh Lime Juice 
  • 1½ cups Passion Orange Grapefruit Juice
  • 1 to 1½ cups Water
  • Grenadine, for topping

Directions: 

  1. In a pitcher, add your Dulce Vida Pineapple Jalapeño with fresh lime juice, POG juice, and water. Stir until combined. 
  2. Place in the fridge for at least one hour. 
  3. When ready to enjoy, serve in glasses filled with ice. Top with your desired amount of grenadine. 
  4. Garnish with a cherry and a lime wheel. Enjoy!

Grapefruit Rose Spritz

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz Dulce Vida Grapefruit Tequila 
  • 1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • ¾ oz Orange Liqueur 
  • 1 oz Rose Liqueur
  • Soda water, top
  • Garnish: Rose petals

Directions:

  1. In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, fresh lime, orange liqueur, rose liqueur, and ice. 
  2. Shake until chilled. 
  3. Strain into a tall collins glass filled with ice. 
  4. Top with soda water. 
  5. Garnish with rose petals. Cin Cin!

Coconut Lime Margarita 

Ingredients: 

  • 2 oz Dulce Vida Lime Tequila
  • 1 oz Coco Squeeze 
  • ¾ oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • ½ oz Naranja Orange Liqueur 
  • Coconut flakes, rim 

Directions: 

  1. In a cocktail shaker, combine all ingredients with ice. 
  2. Shake until chilled. 
  3. Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice. 
  4. Garnish with a lime wheel. Cin Cin!

Coconut Blood Orange Margarita 

Ingredients: 

  • 2 oz Dulce Vida Organic Blanco Tequila
  • 2 oz Blood Orange Juice
  • 1 oz Cream of Coconut 
  • 1 oz Fresh Lime Juice 
  • Garnish: Blood Orange Wheel, Tahin rim

Directions:  

  1. To create a Tahin rim, take a lime wedge and run the juicy part along the rim of the glass. 
  2. Fill a small plate with Tahin and dip the rim of the glass into the spice until it is covered with your desired amount. Set aside. 
  3. In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, blood orange juice, cream of coconut, lime juice, and ice. Shake until chilled. 
  4. Strain into a final glass filled with ice and garnish with a blood orange wheel and a dash of Tahin. Cin Cin!
