Hollywood is set to enjoy the talents of yet another Pascal pretty soon. A report by Screen Daily highlights how Lux Pascal, little sister to Pedro Pascal, was cast in a new project.
“Summer War” will be Pascal’s first film since her transition
Pascal, who has appeared in projects like “Bust” and “Narcos,” will be lending her talents to the “Summer War.” Them reports that this is Pascal’s first feature film since she transitioned in 2021.
She will be well-accompanied on her latest project as she joins a global cast led by Canadian actor Dan Beirne, Argentina’s Agustín Pardella and Malena Sánchez, and Spanish-Chilean actress Aline Küppenheim, per Screen Daily.
“Summer War” will follow the story of the United States champion of a board game called Third Reich, who is enjoying a relaxing summer in 1989 when tragedy strikes. What shatters the peace? The mysterious death of a tourist.
The film is based on a novel by Roberto Bolaño
According to Screen Daily, Chilean director Alicia Scherson will direct the film, whose production starts this summer.
The Pink News cites that the film is based on the book The Third Reich by Chilean author Roberto Bolaño, which he wrote in 1989. The author passed away in 2003, but his novel wasn’t found until seven years later, in 2010.
Pascal is also known for her portrayals in “La Jauría,” “La California,” and “The Prince.” The Chilean-born actress earned her BFA at the theater conservatory of Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile. Later graduating from The Juilliard School’s MFA Acting program in 2023.
Pascal wants to serve as a beacon of representation for LGBTQIA2S+ community
Before transitioning, she identified as non-binary and, before that, a gay man, according to PEOPLE. She tells Ya magazine, “If I had been sufficiently sure of myself I would have transitioned in my adolescence.”
She tells Ya, “Moving through the world as a woman is much more simple for me, but I still advocate for non-binary identities to have a space in society.” Pascal adds, “We need trans activists who are good, smart, informed and who can be strong voices against transphobia, homophobia and racism.”
